  • Overview

The Kinkaid School seeks the services of talented, qualified educators who wish to serve as substitute teachers for the lower school for school year 2018-19.   Preference is given to candidates with substantial teaching experience. Successful applicants must pass a screening, interview and background check. Once selected, substitutes are placed on the school’s substitute list and called whenever there is an opening.

Lower school substitutes provide supervision and instruction to students in pre-Kindergarten through 4th grades on an as-needed basis. Generally, lesson plans are provided by the school to meet in the needs of this class period. In rare instances, the substitute would be expected to create all lesson/unit plans in collaboration with the grade level team. Minimum duration of assignment is half a day. Most assignments are a full day and more rarely, several days.

    • Bachelor’s degree in education, Master’s preferred
    • A minimum of three (this number is not commensurate with substantial, so we may need to amend one or the other) years of teaching experience, preferably at a private school.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Core knowledge of the development of primary-age school children
    • Commitment to collaboration and high ethical professional standards
    • Collegial, energetic, and engaging
    • A demonstrated commitment to Kinkaid’s four core values of honesty, responsibility, respect, and kindness.

The Kinkaid School provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.  In addition to federal law, The Kinkaid School complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment.
