  • Overview

    The Kinkaid School is seeking a dedicated Gym Building Attendant to perform routine duties and related to the daily operation of the building.

    Located in the Memorial area of Houston, Kinkaid is a private K-12 school located in the Memorial neighborhood of Houston, Texas.


    • Cleans, dusts, sweeps assigned areas daily.  Monitors assigned areas routinely to ensure they are kept in order.  Replenishes consumable supply dispensers (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.)
    • Performs routine minor building maintenance, repair and operation.  Responds to customer needs in a timely manner.
    • Reports building problems to maintenance staff in a timely manner.
    • Removes and disposes of trash and recycling.
    • Prepares gym for games and tournaments.  Removes trash from bleachers after games.
    • Provides set-up services for meetings and activities. Assists parents in decorating of gym for functions.  Assists parents with indoor concession stand. 
    • Maintain athletic uniforms and athletic towel supply: wash, fold, store, and distribute.
    • Vacuum locker rooms daily.  Sanitize showers, sinks, toilets, tiles daily.  
    • Performs duties as assigned through the maintenance work order system.  Completes documentation in an accurate and timely manner as required by management.  Reviews work order reports and manages work orders as required.
    • Operates utility carts, forklift, and the school pickup truck as needed.
    • Ensures adequate supply inventories to perform daily job responsibilities and utilizes supplies in cost effective manner.
    • Stores supplies, tools, equipment, and other department items in appropriate and designated areas.
    • Maintains tools and equipment on a daily basis according to departmental standards and manufacturer’s recommendations.
    • Completes work activities in a manner that minimizes the impact to the customer.
    • Demonstrates accountability for customer service and professional behavior through personal work ethic, teamwork, and effective communication skills.
    • Responds promptly and appropriately to all forms of school communications including but not limited to radios, phone, e-mail messages, verbal and written communications.
    • Adheres to approved departmental dress code and maintains professional appearance.
    • Works with other school employees and groups as directed to ensure special events, activities and projects are completed.
    • Secures building and turn off lights prior to leaving.
    • Assists faculty and staff, parents and students in daily building activities as requested.  Assists other Facilities staff as required.


    • Ability perform custodial duties and minor building repairs and maintenance.
    • Ability to use maintenance equipment included hand held power tools.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively using both written and verbal communication.
    • Must be able to work evenings and weekends on a flexible schedule.  Routine overtime will be required. 
    • Must have a valid drivers’ license.
    • This position requires a level of experience or education that will provide a mastery of skills, procedures, and duties required of the position within one month.
